Exploring Saigon’s Hidden Eateries and Cafes on Vespa

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Saigon, or Ho Chi Minh City, has 10 million people and just as many motorbikes, making Saigon a city that is always on the go! Do as the locals do and hop on a vintage Vespa scooter, zipping across Saigon’s urban districts in search of local, and authentic eateries known mostly to the just most food-conscious of the city’s residents.

Start off your adventure with a drink at a Vespa-themed café, then sample the city’s authentic local food by driving to District 4 for Vietnamese shellfish dishes, cruising to District 3 for “banh xeo” - crispy pancake including rice flour with pork and prawn, a southern Vietnamese specialty, and heading to a Vietnamese style coffee shop to try “caphe sua da” – Saigon’s coffee with condensed milk and ice. Try Vietnamese version of French-inspired flavors including freshly baked baguettes, and explore a mid 20th century apartment complex which transforms into hundreds of food and drink stalls in the evening. Finish the night with a Vietnamese dessert at a local sweet shop, followed by a glass of local beer or a cocktail at a cozy Saigon bar tucked down a quiet alley.
