Insight to a Veteran’s Experience
Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital city, has more than 1000 years of history and it is today home of so many historical attractions. Spend sometimes with a north Vietnamese veteran to see the past from his perspective.
Meet the veteran, who was a communication soldier from 1970 to 1975, to explore the traces of the wars as well as his personal experiences. Begin at Hanoi Hilton where American POWs were kept, and drive to Truc Bach lake - where a famous American pilot landed down, then head to Huu Tiep Lake to see a part of the B52 plane shot down in 1972. Continue onto the extensive Army Museum to get an idea of Eras of Vietnamese military history. Finish the tour at the D67 underground war bunker, the headquarter of the North Vietnamese military command during the wars. At its secret meeting room, the Politburo and the Central Military Commission made many strategic decisions during the American war, such as to fight against the B52 during the 12 days and nights of the Hanoi – “Dien Bien Phu on-air-battle” in 1972, or to liberate the South and reunify the country in the spring 1975.
