Begin in the capital Hanoi, this six-day private luxury tour in northern Vietnam combines touring in the charming city of Hanoi with an overnight cruise in the stunning limestone formations of Halong Bay.

 

During your private touring in Hanoi, visit the city’s most important historical attractions, such as Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and his House on Stilts, One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature. Take an in-depth tour of the Old Quarter, where each street was historically named after the product it sells, such as silk, shoes and noodle. While walking along the narrow streets with your own guide, learn about the history of the area including its traditional architecture, and see how it has transformed into cafes, art galleries and boutiques featuring the finest Vietnamese designs. Explore the French Quarter with colonial-era buildings lined on leafy boulevards, many of which are now fancy restaurant serving fusion food. Also visit the city’s top museums, if desired, such as the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.  One day, enjoy a private street food tour while walking the Hoan Kiem Lake and touring one of Hanoi’s dynamic markets to see how the local people live, sample local street food specialties like Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich with French pate), Pho Bo (beef noodle soup) and Bun Cha (barbecued pork with noodles).

 

Drive to the famous limestone formations of Halong Bay for an overnight cruise on a luxurious junk-style boat, Vietnamese traditional wooden boat. Cruise among amazing limestone islands and islets, visit a limestone cave, enjoy fresh seafood meals, go sea kayaking or visit a floating village, have fun with on-board activities like tai chi at sunrise, and perhaps hike to a scenic overlook.

  • Day 1: Hanoi Arrival

    Upon your arrival at the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, our fast-track service officers will greet you with a signboard with your name(s) on it, and quickly assist you through the immigration to the baggage claim. Meet your own personal guide and driver for a private transfer to your hotel for three nights.

  • Day 2: Full Day City Tour and Water Puppet Show (B)

    The capital of Vietnam since 1010AD, Hanoi is home of an amazing blend of Indo-Chinese and French colonial influences.  The modern-day Hanoi is a mix of ancient temples and pagodas, parks and lakes, broad tree-lined boulevards and narrow food alleyways. Today you will tour the city with your own tour guide and driver. Begin with the Ho Chi Minh complex, where the first president of Vietnam lived and his embalmed body is kept in the mausoleum, and the colonial Presidential Palace surrounded the green garden. Drive to the Temple of Literature, a Confucius temple and Vietnam’s first university to see one of the most beautiful architect in the city. Then continue to Hoa Lo Prison (Hanoi Hilton) to learn about the recent history of the country, as well as the use of the site by both the French and North Vietnam during the two Indochina Wars. Participate in the Water Puppet Performance in a local theatre before heading back to your hotel in the late afternoon.

    Hanoi is one of the best foodie destination in the region, eating on the street has been a typical and fun activity in the city. And because the Old Quarter is home of well-known Vietnamese food such as the famous Nom Bo Kho (dried beef with green papaya salad), Banh Khuc (steamed cake made of glutinous rice mixed with cudweed, filled with green bean paste, pork, black peppers, and sprinkled with grains of cooked sticky rice), and Bun Cha (barbecued pork with rice noodle). Leave your hotel for a leisure walk to the Old Quarter and its busy markets with your tour guide, sample the best local dishes along the way.

     

    If you are a coffee person, don’t miss out the Hanoi egg coffee, a local created coffee well-whisked with egg yolk and condensed milk. Other famous dishes include Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich), Pho Bo (beef noodle soup), and Hanoi’s ice cream.

  • Day 4: Hanoi – Halong Bay (B, L, D)

    Halong Bay is Vietnam’s prime tourist attraction, this UNESCO World Heritage listed bay is home to thousands of limestone islands rising out of emerald waters of Tonkin Gulf. The best way to explore the stunning rock formations and the calm waters of Halong is to aboard a junk-style boat, a traditional Vietnamese wooden boat. After your breakfast at the hotel, leave for 3.5-hour drive on private car to Halong Bay, where you will board a luxurious junk for an overnight cruise. On arrival at the dock, settle into your cabin and prepare your appetite for an enjoyable lunch on deck. Cruise among the beautiful limestone islands, take in the magnificent views of the heritage site of Halong Bay during the afternoon cruise. Visit the mysterious Tien Ong cave where human bones dating back to 8.000BC were found, also visit Cua Van floating village and learn about the living and fishing in the bay. In the late afternoon, participate in a cooking demonstration with the chef or view the sunset on the top deck before dinner.

    Early risers greet a new day with a refreshing tai chi on the upper deck, take in the quiet moments in the world famous site. Enjoy your morning coffee while the boat is heading to Titop Island, where you can swim on a natural white sandy beach and climb up the top for a panoramic view of the surrounding. Back to the boat where a brunch is served before arriving at the dock, meet your guide and driver to drive back to your hotel in Hanoi for one night.

    Relax at your hotel until your guide and driver come to pick you up in time for your departure flight, private transfer to the airport.
